Cycle 300 Miles in June

I'm taking on the Cycle 300 Miles in June Challenge

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking on the Cycle 300 Miles in June Challenge for PCR to change this and help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Please support me during this challenge by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you for your support! 💙🧡

All finished

Tuesday 30th Jun
All finished.
602 miles ridden and a good amount of money raised for a worthwhile charity.
All in all a successful month. Many thanks to all who sponsored me and especially Sarah, Simon and Roly for the last ride greeting when I got home.

My cycling challenge

Tuesday 9th Jun
Mid 60s male, morbidly obese cripple, seeking 30 days of self inflicted pain.
Ok, it's not a great dating profile but it is an accurate description of my current status.
I am significantly overweight and I am finding cycling everyday quite a  challenge. I haven't ridden a bike regularly, over the past couple of years, because I have herniated discs in my spine a numb lower left leg, sciatica and osteoarthritis in both knees, all of which has put me off riding consecutive days due to the need for some recovery.
However I understand that all this is nothing compared to the fear and suffering when finding out you have any form of cancer.
With prostate cancer the biopsies and the treatments all have risks and associated pain.
I know quite a few people who have had and still have Prostate cancer, some have recovered and some have not.
Raising money to help with research into improving diagnosis, treatment and recovery rates is what is motivating me to suffer in my own way.
I plan to ride at least 10 miles every day for the whole of June. So far I have been doing more than 10 a day so I should get to the 300 mile goal before the end, but I will still continue riding every day.
It is painful enough at the moment and I am only one week in, but it's a small reminder of how some people are suffering with their cancers and treatments.
Check out the good work that prostate cancer research is doing and please sponsor such a good cause.
