I'm taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I was one of them. I was diagnosed and treated in 2024, and because it was caught early, I was able to consider a range of options, ultimately deciding a prostatectomy was the way to go. Two years on, still getting checked, but all clear now. I want to continue to help fight this and so I’m taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research to change this and help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Please support me during this challenge by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you for your support! 💙🧡

Run #6, 8 October

Thursday 8th Oct
Day 8 and run #6, and down came the rain. Enjoyed it despite getting absolutely soaked through. I suspect it won't be the last time that happens on this challenge.

Runs #3 and #4

Monday 5th Oct
Sunday 4th October saw me get 2.75 miles done. It was great weather and nice and quiet so it was lovely to get out and get that under my belt.

Monday was meant to be a rest day, but after a long day at work, I got the trainers on and got a couple more miles done. Starting to feel my achilles but it'll be ok.

We keep going!

Run #2, 3 October

Sunday 4th Oct
Run #2 done and another 1.55 miles ticked off. Had myself a running partner today too, my youngest daughter decided to join me.
On to the next one

Day 1 Done

Thursday 1st Oct
Finished work and was determined to get out for a run. This is my first run in a few years, and my first since being diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer in 2024. And did I feel it.
I knew it would be tough getting back into it, and it proved to be right.

BUT

I did it! I ran 1.6 miles tonight. Just another 48.4 to go.

Bring on the dark nights, the wind and rain, and the sore feet.
