I'm taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I've worked on urology surgical wards supporting men and their families going through prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. I have friends and family members who have been affected by prostate and other cancers.

And after having my own prostate cancer scare last year I know that we need better diagnosis techniques, better treatment options and better advice and support for everyone affected by cancer - healthcare professionals, those with prostatic conditions (benign and malignant) and their families and support networks.

So, I'm taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research to change this and help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Please support me during this challenge by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you for your support! 💙🧡

My Updates

21 days - 52 miles

Wednesday 21st Oct

Three weeks of my Prostate Cancer Research challenge completed. 10 days to go.

21 days, 21 runs completed. 52 miles (84 km) covered. Averaging just under 2.5 miles (4 km) per run.

The last 7 days have been a graft. Feeling a bit under the weather (🤧) and (today especially) feeling like the power has gone from my legs.

Ticking each day off though, and just 10 more to do. Keep going old man.

14 days - 14 runs

Wednesday 14th Oct

Two weeks into my Prostate Cancer Research Run-the-month challenge.

14 days down, 14 runs completed, 34 miles run.

Including:

a 6am 2-mile run around the Volkspark in Hamburg.

a 10:30 pm 3-mile run after flying back from Hamburg

two 6:30am 2-mile runs along the Olympic Park waterfront in Barcelona

Hips and legs really not happy with me, but we carry on

17 more days and 17 more runs to do…

1 week in…

Wednesday 7th Oct
First week completed.
7 days, 7 runs - 16 miles done.
Day 7 run in Hamburg, whilst away with work, through a dark park with the new chest light illuminating the way.
Hips, calves and ankles all hate me at the moment 🤔
