I'm taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research to change this and help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Please support me during this challenge by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you for your support! 💙🧡

🏃‍♂️ 50 MILES IN OCTOBER — AND A SUBJECT MOST MEN WOULD RATHER AVOID! 💙

So… I’ve decided to run 50 miles during October to raise money for prostate cancer awareness.

And this one is particularly personal.

Earlier this year, I had a significantly raised PSA blood test and was referred for an MRI. Naturally, hearing the words “raised PSA” and “MRI” gets the mind working overtime — and Google suddenly becomes your least favourite website! 😬

Thankfully, after the MRI, I was told that there was no significant prostate cancer detected. A huge relief.

But it also made me realise just how important it is for men to get checked.

Prostate cancer is one of those things that many men don’t want to talk about. We’ll happily discuss cars, work, what we had for dinner… but mention prostates and suddenly everyone finds something fascinating on their phone. 😂

The reality is that getting checked early can make a huge difference. A PSA test is simple, and if something comes back abnormal, it doesn’t automatically mean you have cancer — as I found out. But it can be the starting point for getting the right investigations and, if necessary, treatment.

So this October, I’m putting my legs where my mouth is and aiming to run 50 miles to help raise awareness and hopefully encourage a few more men to stop putting it off and go and get checked.

50 miles might sound like a lot… especially as I haven’t exactly been training like an Olympic athlete lately! 😂

If you’d like to support me, any donation — big or small — would be hugely appreciated. More importantly, if this post prompts even one man to speak to his GP and get checked, it will have been worth every mile.

Please share this, talk about it, and most importantly — gentlemen, get yourselves checked. 💙
