I'm taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research to change this and help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Please support me during this challenge by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you for your support! 💙🧡

Prostate Cancer

Thursday 17th Sep

Awareness, Support and Hope

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting men, and raising awareness can help save lives. Understanding the signs, knowing your risk, and encouraging people to seek medical advice can make an important

Knowing the possible signs

Prostate cancer does not always cause symptoms, particularly in its early stages. When symptoms do occur, they can include:

  • Difficulty starting to urinate
  • A weak or interrupted flow of urine
  • Needing to urinate more often, particularly at night
  • A sudden or urgent need to urinate
  • Blood in the urine or semen
  • Difficulty getting or maintaining an erection
  • Pain in the back, hips or pelvis in some cases

These symptoms can also be caused by conditions that are not cancer, so experiencing them does not necessarily mean that someone has prostate cancer. However, anyone concerned about changes in their health should speak with a GP or healthcare professional.

Why talking about prostate cancer matters

Men can sometimes be reluctant to talk about urinary or sexual symptoms. Embarrassment, fear or uncertainty can lead people to delay seeking help.

Creating open conversations can break down some of these barriers. A simple conversation with a friend, partner, family member or healthcare professional could encourage someone to take a symptom seriously and seek advice.

Supporting people affected by prostate cancer

A prostate cancer diagnosis can affect much more than physical health. It can bring uncertainty, anxiety and difficult decisions, and it can also affect partners, relatives and friends.

Charities play an important role by providing information, practical support, emotional support and opportunities for people affected by cancer to connect with others who understand what they are experiencing.

A message of hope

Prostate cancer affects thousands of families, but people do not have to face it alone. Greater awareness, early conversations, research, treatment and compassionate support all have an important role to play.

By talking openly about prostate cancer and supporting those affected, we can help build a future where more people have access to the information and support they need.

Together, we can raise awareness, support families and help make a difference.
