I'm taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research to change this and help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Please support me during this challenge by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you for your support! 💙🧡

One for dad 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙

Wednesday 23rd Sep

Some of you may know that last month I lost my dad to prostate cancer at just 59 years old. 💙

He fought a long and incredibly hard battle, but sadly, he was taken from us far too soon.

I know he’s watching over us, and one thing I’m determined to do is make him proud.

At the start of this year, I went sober for six months, (not that I was much of a drinker) but this was to get on top of my fitness, my health and my mental wellbeing, and I genuinely felt the best I had in years. But over the last few months, with everything that’s happened, I’ve completely lost my way. My mental health has taken a hit, and I’ve struggled to find my way back to the person I was becoming.

But I know that’s not what my dad would want for me.

Dad always told us we were strong, that it was in our blood, and no matter what life threw at us, to keep our heads up and keep going. Or, as he would always put it, “sort your wig out.” 😂💙

Those words have stuck with me, and I know he’d want me to stay strong, keep pushing forward and continue becoming the man I know I can be.

When I came across this challenge, I thought it could be the perfect opportunity to give myself that much-needed kick-start, get back into running, which I was really enjoying, and do something positive in his memory.

I signed up without giving it too much thought. I just thought it would be a good way to get myself running again and give me something positive to focus on. Looking back, I may have underestimated the challenge slightly, but I’m determined to get it done.

Then today, Prostate Cancer Research sent me my T-shirt… so looks like I’m doing it! 😂💙

And I thought, if I’m going to do it, I might as well try to raise some money along the way.

If I can raise even a small amount to help fund research and contribute towards fighting this horrible disease, then it’ll mean something. Hopefully, one day, fewer families will have to go through what ours has.

So, if anyone can spare a donation, no matter how big or small, I would be incredibly grateful. Every little bit helps.

And if anyone fancies joining me for a run and a chat at any point throughout October, please feel free. The company would be more than welcome!

This one’s for you, Dad. 💙
