I'm taking part in the 50 miles in October Challenge

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research to change this and help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Please support me during this challenge by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you for your support! 💙🧡

My Updates

I've just hit 40 miles

Friday 23rd Oct
I'm on 41 miles, with just over a week to go. I've not had a great week this week, but I'm still ahead of target. Last push this week. I'm nearly there.

The reason why, for the halfway mark

Tuesday 13th Oct
This evening I've managed to get past the halfway point of my miles. Thankfully a little earlier than the time. I thought I'd give a little bit of back story on why I'm doing this. Those of you who know me well, will know that my dad is absolutely ace and one of my favourite people. He's been living with prostate cancer for 15 years. He's healthy and he's ok and cracking on with life, as he does. This year my partner's dad was also diagnosed with a more aggressive form of prostate cancer, but thankfully is now on the mend. 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK. That's over 64,000 dads, grandads, sons, husbands and partners. Please give generously to help this charity to help those who need it. On a side note, I need to have a reason to keep setting off running. I definitely feel better after running and when I run regularly, but I'm very good at making excuses and getting into a bit of a spiral of not going, so now I have to because I don't want to let the people who have sponsored me, or the charity down. Basically it's a kick up the bum for me to keep going. Finally, a really big thank you to all those who have sponsored me so far. I really do appreciate it.

Quarter down

Wednesday 7th Oct
Thank you to all who have sponsored me so far. I've hit my £150 target, so I've increased it to £200.

I've managed to get quarter of the miles done, despite having a bit of a cold. I've done the equivalent of a half marathon over the last week.

4 days in

Sunday 4th Oct
So, four days in and nine and a bit miles down.

First run down

Thursday 1st Oct
Morning, I've done my first run before the sun this morning. I've been told Strava should upload automatically within 24 hours, so hopefully that should start knocking the miles off. 3.2 miles this morning, with a brief stop to say hello to a cow.
