I'm taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge

Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime?

I’m taking on the Run 50 Miles in October Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research to change this and help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer.

Please support me during this challenge by donating what you can to Prostate Cancer Research. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.

Thank you for your support! 💙🧡

Day31

Saturday 31st Oct
Last day of the Challenge- finished with a parkrun and some company for a change.. even though I’m not fit to chat when I’m Trying. It’s Quite humbling when 50. 60 & 70 year olds steam past you- but it’s all for a great cause! Challenge completed! Woo..

Day 29

Saturday 31st Oct
Along the line for another wee last push- 5k - interesting seeing the wind damage and some trees down- all good tho

Day 27

Saturday 31st Oct
Another wee blast.

Day 23

Saturday 31st Oct
After a rough stormy weekend ventured out for a few more km- joined by eldest son- his first run since breaking his collarbone- woo!

Day 20

Tuesday 20th Oct
5 mile afternoon run round lander uni. South Carolina.

Day 19

Tuesday 20th Oct
Afternoon run down the road and back in Greenwood- straight there and straight back.. basically business units either side of the road for as far as you can see - in a straight line of course.. another 2,5mile done though.

Day 18

Tuesday 20th Oct
Run down the road around the hotel to keep the miles going.. think it’s getting harder not easier!

Day 17

Tuesday 20th Oct
Decided to go for a run before Shans game and went on a heritage trail basically an old railway line it like our one. It’s was great but basically only one bend and the rest is straight for miles and miles and way out in the sticks with literally nobody around.. anyways went further than I planned and had to rush back to make it in time for the match. All good though!

Day 16

Friday 16th Oct
A run up past Lander University grounds and back.. nobody runs here and it was about 28deg but got it logged and enjoyed it!

Day 15

Friday 16th Oct
Didn’t have chance to run today but logged this exercise around Philadelphia airport - does that count? Keeps the streak going 😂

Day 14

Friday 16th Oct
Mental day- poor effort die to work/ sickness(not me) and traveling to see my eldest- best part of the day! This was just an attempt at keeping the streak going before bed..

Day 13

Friday 16th Oct
Another one bites the dust!

Day 12

Monday 12th Oct
Lunchtime 5 and a bit k. Along the line to the dead end, a wee loop past the blockade then back. Struggling today.

Day 11

Sunday 11th Oct
Across the bridges looped to Duthie and back up the line. Another sunny but cold run. Not easy but satisfying afterwards. Oh just added an extra 1.5mile on this afternoon- had to take the neighbours wean for a stroll in the buggy so got some extra steps in. 👍

Day 10

Saturday 10th Oct
Hazlehead park run. Bright but getting colder. Nice.

Day 9

Friday 9th Oct
Well. I had root treatment today and I thought I’d take it easy- I took the youngfla to get a haircut so took the time to have a wee run round Chapleton while I waited and before the numbness wore off- what a lovely town! Do. The hill, yarked a hard left, up to the top of the track and another left up the road then another left back down the hill to the bottom and back to the boxes. He wasn’t done so squeezed in another wee circle.. 1.5m today. That’ll do nicely .

Day 8

Thursday 8th Oct
Another cracking day. Very lucky with the weather so far. Do n to the reservoir, Round it, back again , up through Allen Park nen back down the line. The chest seems to be coping it’s the legs I’m worried about.. will have to take it easy if we are going to see this through every day.. another 3.7m though. Boom!

Day 7

Wednesday 7th Oct
Bombed it down past Phil’s, wheeked a left, round past the reservoir and kept it chapping down the riverbank all the way to the uni- up the 6billion steps and circled back up the hill to the starting point. Amazing day for it- a bit nippy and not the best surface for running but hey ho- 3.5m in the bag!

Day 6

Tuesday 6th Oct
Blasted up the line to the closed bit, shot down through Alan Park to the riverbank then up to the reservoir round to Phil’s then uphill back towards starting point. Not quite 3 mile but I was under time pressure today plus I’m still actually enjoying it.. and don’t want to sicken myself especially after yesterday’s uphill jaunt.. lovely day - bright, fresh and autumn 🍂

Day 5

Monday 5th Oct
Well today I had to drop a car off at the airport at lunchtime and my better half wasn’t available to pick me up just at that time- So… I though I’d start running home send her my location and she’d get me when she could.. that all happened but 1 my location didn’t update for her and 2 the first three miles is all uphill.. I made it to Kingswells via bucksburn before she found me - and yes I was pleased to jump in and get a lift the last few miles… apparently it took her 40mins to track me down cos I didn’t hear the phone - sorry hon.. anyways chuffed I made it at least halfway! Small run tomorrow methinks.. cheers again for the donations..

Day 4

Sunday 4th Oct
Evidence lol

Day 4

Sunday 4th Oct
Had a Flat tyre this morning so decided to run away. Ran down past Asdas, along the river to Duthie, up through Duthie past the ducks and decided to head back along the line and face reality and be home for lunch.. 5mile all in. Slow and drizzly but happy with the effort.

Day 3

Saturday 3rd Oct
Day 3. Out this afternoon found a new trail down past Phils, round the reservoir, back the other way and along the riverbank to the shakken briggie and along to the golf course up the hill to the line and cruised back down the line huffing and puffing more than any old steam train would have. Another day done.. thanks for the additional sponsors. 💪

Day 2

Friday 2nd Oct
Nipped out at lunchtime - lovely day for it. Down towards Duthie Park and slightly uphill grunt on the way back. Was tempted to give up but remembered “2 Stripe“ spent a months wages on a donation for me so kept it going! Thanks to all for donating.

Day 1

Thursday 1st Oct
1st day done- probs will take 24hrs before it logs, but rest assured I got myself out into the fresh air and got my exercise! Yup- 1.5miles or so.. nothing too fancy. Cannot believe the generous donations- met my original £150 target so upped it a wee bit to see if we can raise a few more Pennie’s..

Thank you to my Sponsors
