My target 50 mi
50 miles this October — for my Dad, my Grandad, my brothers, and every man and family affected by prostate cancer.
This October, I’m taking on the Run 50 Miles Challenge for Prostate Cancer Research.
My Dad has had prostate cancer and ongoing prostate complications. Thankfully, through early checks, monitoring and treatment, it was detected early and he is doing well.
One of the reasons he knew to get checked was because my late Grandad had also been affected and our family had been made aware of the hereditary risk.
I’m 33 and one of three brothers. Knowing our family history means we’re much more aware of prostate cancer, the importance of recognising your risk and of getting checked when appropriate. That awareness has come from the experiences of my Dad and Grandad, as well as the incredible work being done to get men talking about prostate cancer.
So I’m running 50 miles this October for my Dad, for my Grandad, for my brothers, and for all the men and families whose lives have been affected by prostate cancer.
1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.
If you’re able to donate, anything you can give will help support Prostate Cancer Research and its work towards a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.
And if nothing else, please take a moment to talk to the men in your life about prostate cancer, family history and knowing their risk.
Thank you for your support. 💙🧡
